Tofu lettuce wrap

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Package of extra firm tofu

  • 1 Head of romaine lettuce

  • 3 Tbsp of hoisin sauce

  • 3  Tbsp of low-sodium soy sauce

  • 2 Tbsp of rice vinegar

  • 1 Tsp of sesame oil

  • 2 cloves garlic minced

  • 2-4 Green onions

  • 1/2 package of raw instant noodles (optional)

 

PREPARATION

1. Prepare the tofu:

  • Remove the tofu from its packaging and drain any excess liquid. Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and place a heavy object (like a cast iron skillet or a stack of books) on top to press out the excess water. Let it press for at least 15-20 minutes.

2. Prepare the Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, mix the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and minced garlic until well combined. Set aside.

3. Cook the tofu:

  • Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into small cubes and put them in the air fryer for 10 to 15 minutes, or until crispy. When the tofu is done, heat a pan over medium-high heat. Add the tofu and the prepared sauce to the pan. Stir continuously to ensure the tofu is evenly coated with the sauce. Let it cook for 3-5 minutes.

4. Prepare the toppings:

  • While the tofu is cooking, wash and separate the romaine lettuce leaves, then pat them dry with paper towels. Wash and finely chop the green onions.

5. Assemble wrap:

  • Take a lettuce leaf and add a portion of the tofu mixture along with your preferred toppings.
